The Rev. Colleen Montgomery, MDiv 2013, Associate Pastor at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IN
I have been called to be the Associate Pastor at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IN. This was the site of my internship. I was ordained on December 12, 2014 at St. Thomas.
I will be retiring from full-time ordained Word and Sacrament ministry on January 1, 2015. In addition to working as a part-time interim pastor, I will be researching and writing a book regarding African American Lutherans in North Carolina.
The Rev. Donald L. Henderschedt (MDiv ’69) entered into eternal life with his Lord on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014. Married to Bernice E. Henderschedt for 49 years, they lived in Stroudsburg for the past 37 years.
He dedicated his life to the Lord and the churches he served. In 1969, he was ordained as a minister of the Lutheran Church and his service started with a five-church parish: Christ United Lutheran Church in Ashland, Lavelle, Gerardville, Gordon and Kimmels. He then became a pastor developer for the Division for Mission in North America, starting a new congregation, Holy Love Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colo. He returned to Pennsylvania serving on Northeastern PA Synod Staff and liaison for Division for Missions, doing recreational ministry at local resorts, campgrounds and ski resorts. In 1982 he was called to serve St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg, where he served for 10 years and had an integral part in the development of Rainbow Trail Day Care. He then went to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scranton for three years and after that, served as interim pastor for Neffs Union Church, Jordan Lutheran Church in Orefield, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scotrun.
