Virginian Julie Recher earns academic award

Julie Recher of Midlothian, VA, has earned the Karl Elser Wurster Memorial Award Dean Paul Rajashekar and Julie Recherfrom The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP). Recher, a second-year seminarian at LTSP, was selected for the award by the seminary’s faculty for her demonstration of academic merit and promise of ministry.

Recher is a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Richmond, VA, is studying for a career in pastoral ministry and is affiliated with the candidacy committee of the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA has about 10,000 member congregations.

A 2005 graduate of James River High School, Recher was awarded a BA in Psychology from Roanoke College in 2008.

Recher is a candidate for the Master of Divinity degree, which qualifies a recipient for ordination.
