Virginian Julie Recher earns academic award
Julie Recher of Midlothian, VA, has earned the Karl Elser Wurster Memorial Award
from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP). Recher, a second-year seminarian at LTSP, was selected for the award by the seminary’s faculty for her demonstration of academic merit and promise of ministry.
Recher is a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Richmond, VA, is studying for a career in pastoral ministry and is affiliated with the candidacy committee of the Virginia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA has about 10,000 member congregations.
A 2005 graduate of James River High School, Recher was awarded a BA in Psychology from Roanoke College in 2008.
Recher is a candidate for the Master of Divinity degree, which qualifies a recipient for ordination.
