Frequently Asked Questions
Where is LTSP located?
The 14 acre campus is located in historic and diverse Mt. Airy neighborhood in the northwest corner of the city of Philadelphia. The campus is easily accessed by car (only six miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike) or public transit (only 15 minutes from Center City, or "Downtown," by train). Two commuter lines (Septa Chestnut Hill East/West) stop within three blocks of the campus, and connect in Center City to other Septa lines that cover the region, along with New Jersey Tranist trains, and Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains that reach New York, Washington, and beyond. Philadelphia is also well served by regional and national bus lines. Students can use these trains for traveling throughout the city and region, visiting the neighborhoods, attending cultural and sports events, and gaining easy access to Philadelphia International airport (17 miles).
How many students are enrolled?
Between 350-400 students.
Can I visit the campus?
We welcome visitors throughout the year through both scheduled visits and individual visits. We are glad to work with you to schedule a visit that meets your individual needs.
Can I apply to the seminary before I complete my undergraduate degree?
If you are currently an undergraduate degree student in your final year, you can apply before you graduate. Please send us an official copy of your transcript(s) showing work completed. No student may start classes unless a final transcript has been received.
When is your application deadline?
LTSP has rolling admission.
How do I get an application?
Apply online here, or contact the Admissions Office and request a paper copy.
Are scholarships available for part-time students?
Yes. Newly admitted and enrolled part time students in the MDiv, MAR, and MAPL programs are eligible for an Eby Scholarship. Newly admitted students who register for two or more courses will receive a grant of $600.00 for each of the first two semesters of study (for a total of $1200.00).
Is on-campus housing available?
Yes. Whenever possible, full-time students, other than those on internship, are encouraged to take advantage of on-campus housing to facilitate their faith development within a community setting. Campus housing includes the Wiedemann Center and historic buildings on the periphery of campus. Accommodations include approximately 35 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and 36 studio apartments.
