UTI Certificate in Christian MinistryThe Urban Theological Institute (UTI) of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) is dedicated to providing theological education to church leaders that is relevant and up- building for the African American community.

The Certificate Program in Christian Ministry is designed to offer seminars to clergy and church leaders that will equip them in the parish and enhance their skills in Bible study, church doctrine, church history, homiletics, and worship.

The program consists of eight seminars over two academic years. Participants who complete the full two-year (two courses each seminar) program will receive a certificate in Christian ministry. Entrance into the program can start in fall or spring. (download a pdf version of the brochure)

Schedule and Fees

The seminars are held on the LTSP campus. Each seminar meets 2-3 hours, once a week on Saturday morning.

The fee per session is $200 plus the cost of textbooks. Classes for the fall semester begin in September, and in February for the spring semester.
