Distributed Learning Master of Divinity (DL) Curriculum
The Distributed Learning (DL) curriculum at LTSP is designed so that you can graduate with your Master of Divinity in as little as 3 years or choose to stretch out your program over 4-5 years. You get to choose how quickly you pace yourself for the degree.
The curriculum is also designed so you can complete your MDiv with minimal travel to the seminary. Each year you will take 1-7 courses depending on your pace.
Two-thirds of the required 26 courses for the MDiv will be taken online. However 9 courses will be completed in residence on the campus in Philadelphia. These courses will be in January and June (except for the first year Orientation and Introduction to Public Theology which will be held in August necessitating three trips to campus that first year only).
The exact course schedules are still being finalized but you will take courses in Theology, Ethics, Old and New Testaments, History of Christianity, Preaching, Pastoral Theology, Missions, Biblical Language or Software Exegesis, Christian Formation, Church Administration, Spiritual Formation, Church in Society, and others.
The courses are taught by our world-class faculty either in a semester long online format or as a one week intensive course. The curriculum is based on our emphasis on a flexible, affordable, and relevant commitment to theological education.
The final course listing will be released soon and will show you the exact process and course schedule for completing your degree. Sticking to that schedule from the outset will be critical in meeting your timing needs for a quicker path to graduation.
We are excited that our DL curriculum is going to be engaging, challenging, enriching, and substantive. You will utilize your experiences in your ministry site, your personal life, and your faith journey so that you are ready to engage in the challenges of ministry in the 21st-century church.
