Icon Gifts Donation inspires Library Meditation Room

On Tuesday, February 7, the LTSP community gathered to acknowledge the generosity of Mr. Domenic DePaul for his donation of Icon Gifts in loving memory of his partner of many years, William “Bill” Rarick. The event was held at the Krauth Memorial Library where the new Meditation Room to house the Icons was dedicated.

President David Lose welcomed honored guests and thanked Mr. DePaul for his generosity of heart and spirit. President Lose also “unveiled” the plaque later in the program that will be displayed in the Icon room. The Rev. Dr. Karl Krueger, retired professor of History of Christianity and Director of the Krauth Memorial Library offered remarks as did LTSP’s the Rev. Dr. Storm Swain, Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and Theology and Director of Anglican Studies. Mr. DePaul addressed the group, thanking everyone for creating a home and quiet meditation room for his and his faithfully departed partners’ beloved Icons, which were lovingly collected by the couple over many years.

After the unveiling of the plaque, a blessing of the Icons was offered by the Rev. Claire Burkat, Bishop of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, ELCA, and the event was brought to a close by Vince Dent, Senior Major Gifts Officer in the LTSP’s Office for Advancement, who had organized the event.

Light refreshments were served and guests mingled and visited the Meditation Room, admiring the icons and space now available for quiet reflection and prayer.
