Advanced-Level Degree Program: Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
The DOCTOR of MINISTRY (DMin) at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) is designed to enhance the practice of ministry. It is an advanced professional degree and presupposes both the completion of a first degree in theology and at least three years experience in a field of full-time ministry after the first degree. It provides a discipline through which active ministers can reflect critically on their ministries and further develop professional skills.
The DMin student may choose a focus within a field of ministry or an area of concentration, including Biblical Studies, Black Church Studies, Christian Education, Church Administration, Church and Society, Evangelism, Interfaith Studies, Metropolitan Ministry, Military Chaplaincy, Mission and Cultures, Pastoral Care, Preaching, Spirituality, and Worship. Students pay tuition on a course by course basis, and may complete the degree in as little as three years or as long as six years. Flexible course offerings include five-day intensives, distance education, and independent studies. Admission is on a rolling basis.
The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Learn more here.
