Advanced-Level Degree Program: Master of Sacred Theology (STM)


The MASTER of SACRED THEOLOGY (STM) at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) emphasizes academic accomplishment, providing fuller mastery of an area or discipline of theological study. It is course, seminar, and research-oriented, offering a broad exposure to all theological disciplines as well as providing a more detailed examination of a particular discipline. Students at LTSP participate in a 150-year tradition of outstanding theological education marked by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and ministry experience.

With a world-renowned faculty and a curricular emphasis in Public Theology, LTSP prepares candidates for service in challenging, multicultural, pluralistic contexts. Majors available are in Anglican Studies, Bible, Christian Education/Youth Ministry, Church History, Church and Society, Congregational Dynamics (with a focus on stewardship, evangelism, or administration), Homiletics, Interfaith Studies, Liturgy/Worship, Lutheran Studies, Pastoral Care, Theology, and World Christianity (with a focus on history, missions, or theology). LTSP offers day, night, Saturday, intensive, and online courses, making excellent theological education accessible to a wide range of students. Admission is on a rolling basis.
