Annual Tree Lighting

Annual Tree Lighting

What better way can you think of to get the community together for a celebration of the season than to have a community tree lighting and carol singing? That’s the idea of the annual Tree Lighting on William Allen Plaza, where the somewhat unseasonal weather for an early December Friday didn’t interfere with the festivities.

LTSP students, staff, and faculty, joined by a large group of members form the Northwest Philadelphia community, enjoyed singing, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, and a good dose of fellowship and smiles.

LTSP Associate Director of Admissions the Rev. Nate Preisinger served as master of ceremonies, with seminarian Dug Swank serving as informal conductor. Newly elected City Council Person-at Large Derek Green, a Mt. Airy resident, arrived from a city meeting to bring greetings at the event.

Besides fellowship and celebration, toys for the annual Salvation Army Stockings for Kids program were collected, and a brass ensemble from the Salvation Army Philadelphia Citadel provided instrumental accompaniment.
