Augustana Museum Open Day – October 12
The Augustana Museum is the creation of the Augustana Institute, an affiliated organization of the Lutheran Archives Center of the Northeast in cooperation with The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and the Swedish Colonial Society. It tells the story of the New Sweden colony and its eight churches founded in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries and the Augustana Lutheran Church, whose New England and New York Conferences consisted of over two hundred congregations, a college, and nine social ministry institutions. The Institute also aims to encourage scholarship, archival research, and cultural exchange with the Church of Sweden in the light of present ministry challenges.
On Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:45 am, and again from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, the Museum, located on the third floor of The Brossman Center, will observe an Open Day when you are welcome to visit the collection. The Curator of the Augustan Museum and Institute, Dr. Kim-Eric Williams, will be present and is eager to show the collection and engage in conversation.
