Alumna awarded Dr. Richard Lee Peterman Good Steward Award
The Rev. Taryn Montgomery, pastor of Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot, North Dakota, was presented with the ELCA’s prestigious 2015 Dr. Richard Lee Peterman Good Steward Award, established in 1984 by the Lutheran Laity Movement for Stewardship. From the story by Minot NBC affiliate KMOT-TV:
“She moved her congregation from a mentality of scarcity to a mentality of abundance. During that time the congregation of giving went up 2,000 percent. So, that’s an extreme example of someone who has stewardship education and through connecting the congregation with the senate and the ELCA, she really has done some marvelous things around Stewardship,” said Neil Bullock, project coordinator of ELCA.
“Pastor Taryn says she has not yet decided what she is going to do with the $500 award.”
Pr. Montgomery’s husband is the Rev. Christoph Schmidt, also a member of the class of 2011.
