Alumna Rachel Manke to perform on “A Prairie Home Companion”

The Rev. Rachel MankeThe Rev. Rachel Manke, MDiv 2012, pastor at First Lutheran Church in Malden, Massachusetts, and accomplished ukulele player, will stand in front of a congregation of a different kind on June 27, when she joins the legendary Garrison Keillor and his beloved traveling show, “A Prairie Home Companion,” at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts.

According to Rachel’s website, she “has been playing the uke since 1999 (before Y2K hit), before it was cool. She says that she does not play ‘hipster ukulele.’ However, the claim to be playing ‘before it was cool’ might render that point moot.”

Rachel will join Keillor for A Prairie Home Companion’s popular artists series on June 27 at Tanglewood’s legendary Koussevitzky Music Shed, the summer home of the Boston Pops, for a show that will begin at 5:45 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets.

The show will also be broadcast on radio and made available as a podcast at the Prairie Home Companion website.
