Empty Bowl Thank You
A heartwarming letter of gratitude to President Krey from Chestnut Hill College’s Sister Mindy Welding highly praised the hospitality of the seminary in hosting this year’s Interfaith Hospitality Network of Northeast/west Philadelphia (NPIHN) Empty Bowl Dinner on the seminary campus. The event helps hundreds of families in need of emergency and transitional housing, supportive services, and advocacy. The seminary picked up the event this year from the college after attending crowds outgrew the college’s parking and hosting capacity.
“First, the students at LTSP are amazing,” wrote Sister Mindy, director of Campus Ministry at the college. “I did not feel as though I was a stranger coming into a foreign land.” She praised LTSP’s catering staff as “superb,” and the cleaning staff as “tremendous and helpful.” Singled out for special praise in the letter were MDiv student Elyssa Salinas, who coordinated the event for the seminary, and Associate Admissions Director Matthew O’Rear, who was a presence at the event. Sister Mindy planned the Empty Bowl event the past eight years before turning the reigns over to a seminary crew this year.
“I want to thank you, on behalf of the world and God’s people, for what you are gifting us with through the ministry of education and formation of true pastoral leaders passionate about living for and with others in their daily joys, struggles, challenges, and hopes,” Sister Mindy wrote.
