BA, Wheaton College, 1973; MDiv, Gordon-Conwell Seminary, 1977; STM, Union Seminary (NY), 1982; PhD, Temple University, 1996; Pastorates in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, 1977-81, 1983-85. (1985, 1996) Katie Day holds the Charles A. Schieren Chair in Church and Society at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. As a sociologist, with degrees in social ethics and theology as well, she teaches courses which draw heavily on both the social sciences and social ethics. She also directs the Metro/Urban Program at L.T.S.P.Her research interests have included extensive studies in African American congregations, cross-cultural volunteerism and faith-based involvement in economic development, community organizing and social services. Currently she is directing a research project focused on religious communities along Germantown Ave. Dr. Day is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) [click for publication-quality photo]
