Safety and Security Staff Honored

SecurityAppointment1-04012015On April 1, LTSP’s Chief of Safety and Security Vincent Ferguson presented appointments on two members of the Safety and Security staff.

Michael Reed was appointed to the departmental rank of Major in the Office of Safety and Security. Major Reid also assumed the title Deputy Chief of Security.  He will carry out assigned duties as delineated in the Deputy Chief of Security job description, also established this date. In the Letter of Appointment, Chief Ferguson wrote, “By accepting this appointment, Major Reid is charged with consistently demonstrating standards of performance, leadership, judgement, pragmatism, and dedication to this institution which may serve as an enviable example to his fellow security officers and the LTSP community-at-large. By exhibiting unfailing trust and obedience toward LTSP Security Appointment presentationsuperiors, cooperation and loyalty to peers, and strength to subordinates, Major Reid will contribute greatly to the effectiveness and good name of the Office of Safety and Security of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.”

Michael Fabian was appointed to the departmental rank of Lieutenant in the Office of Safety and Security. Lieutenant Fabian also assumed the title Watch Commander. In the Letter of Appointment, Chief Ferguson wrote, “By accepting this appointment, Lieutenant Fabian is charged with consistently demonstrating standards of performance, leadership, pragmatism, and dedication to this institution which may serve as an enviable example to his fellow security officers and the LTSP community-at-large.  By exhibiting unfailing trust and obedience toward superiors, cooperation and loyalty to peers, and strength to subordinates, Lieutenant Fabian will contribute greatly to the effectiveness and good name of the Office of Safety and Security of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.”

The appointments were presented at a ceremony in the Wiedemann Center lobby attended by members of the LTSP community, including LTSP President David Lose and Dean Jayakiran Sebastian, and LTSP students, faculty, and staff, along with ELCA Southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA) synod Bishop Claire Burkat and synod staff. The SEPA synod offices are located in Wiedemann Center.

Recent activities include:

Writing Theologically coverI wrote a chapter, entitled “Writing for the Ear,” for the book Writing Theologically, which was released by Fortress Press this month.

I wrote a preaching commentary for Heeding God’s Call to be used for Gun Prevention Sabbath, Resources for Preaching.

I attended the ATS Mid-Career Faculty Roundtable in Orlando, Florida, and was chosen to be part of a panel presentation on innovative curriculum regarding the Co-op model being used at LTSP.

March 4 and 11 – Lenten Workshops on Baptism and Eucharist at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church

April 12 – Preaching at Reformation Lutheran Church in Philadelphia

April 26 – Preaching at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Aston, PA
