LTSP Notes – July 2015

Under Construction

Two projects are underway on the LTSP campus:

Connector Project

Construction is beginning on the connector between Krauth Memorial Library and The Brossman Center. This will make the library an accessible facility. Previous work in the project was to upgrade the library’s HVAC systems.

Chapel Tower repairs

Repairs are under way on the Schaeffer-Ashmead Chapel bell tower. The tower has been surrounded in scaffolding and protective fabric as the work continues

Administrative Staff Realignment

The Rev. Dr. David D. Grafton has transitioned to the position of LTSP Vice President for Planning, Assessment and Administration as of July 1. He has announced the following re-alignment of administrative staff:

Kyle Barger – Director of Information and Learning Technology

Aaron Bishop – Housekeeping Manager
Aaron will continue to serve on facilities staff as well.

James Cratin – Grounds Manager

Yvonne Curtis – Human Resources Consultant (beginning Monday, July 6). Yvonne will provide human resources support to the seminary faculty and staff, assisting employees with questions and concerns on employment policies (including choice days), compensation, eligibility and coverage for health, pension and other benefits as outlined by Portico, work with directors regarding new hires and replacements, and assist in the annual employee evaluation process. She will also receive student FWS applications and paperwork, as well as FWS and non-FWS time cards. In order to fulfill these responsibilities to the community, Yvonne will be available in the HR office on Mondays from 8:30-12:30. No appointments are necessary. Employees may also call 215-248-6393 or email Yvonne will continue her primary work as the Administrative Assistant to Bishop Claire Burkat of SEPA. We look forward to welcoming Yvonne as she serves the seminary community.

Diana Downey – Executive Assistant to the President and Dean
Diana will also serve as a supervisor for front desk employees, and be responsible for the ordering of all supplies for seminary staff.

Mariam Nowar– Director of Finance
Mariam will be responsible for all accounts payable and payroll (including FWS).

Matthew O’Rear – Director of Admissions

The Rev. Heidi Rodrick-Schnaath – Director of Student Services

Rachel Zimmerman – Coordinator of Student Learning and Assessment
Rachel will continue to serve as the Faculty Assistant.

The Rev. Dr. Philip KreyFormer LTSP President Philip D. Krey has accepted a call to St Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. His installation has been set for Sunday, September 20, 2015 at St. Andrew’s at 3:00 pm.

He is deeply thankful to the congregation for their confidence and grateful for the sabbatical that the LTSP Board of Trustees provided in which he completed three books with his brother, Dr. Peter Krey. Two are scheduled for publication in 2016, and one has been sent to a publisher for publication before 2017.

Spoke at the North East PA Synod Youth Gathering, Saturday, 20 June at Muhlenberg College. The presentation was titled “Perfect Love casts out fear” (1 Jn 4:18): Moving beyond the fear and hysteria of Muslims in our Media.

I preached a three night revival in June at the Historic Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York (photo below left and center images)

A sermon was published in the book Athens & Oxford Sermons. These are sermons by preachers who enrolled in a preaching seminar in either Athens or Oxford, England during the summer of 2014.
