Katie Day holds the Charles A. Schieren Chair in Church and Society at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. As a sociologist, with degrees in social ethics and theology as well, she teaches courses which draw heavily on both the social sciences and social ethics. She also directs the Metropolitan/Urban Program at LTSP. Her research interests have included extensive studies in African American congregations, cross-cultural volunteerism and faith-based involvement in economic development, community organizing and social services. Currently she is directing a research project focused on religious communities along Germantown Ave. in Philadelphia. Dr. Day is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
