As Director of Communications, Merri establishes and guides the integrated marketing strategy for the seminary, including publications, website, social media, public relations messages, and collateral, to maintain consistency in the seminary's message and brand. She manages the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral, securing, leading, and directing external sources to accomplish tasks. She is also the editor for the seminary's magazine, PS.

Merri is a "cradle" Lutheran, growing up attending Redemption Lutheran Church in Northeast Philadelphia, and now lives near the seminary with her husband Drew and three active children, Emily, Cameron, and Graeme. She is a member of Christ Ascension Lutheran Church in Chestnut Hill, where she enjoys singing in the choir and serving on various committees. She is also a member of the Development Committee of Lutheran Settlement House and has volunteered in a fundraising capacity for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge.
