President David Lose

Responding to Good Counsel

In my visits with various constituents of the seminary over the last year, I have received a lot of good counsel about what today’s church needs from LTSP. And we are trying to respond. Your multiple requests, for instance, for the seminary to be more of a partner in equipping congregational leaders for a changed and changing world has spurred our sponsoring the annual Ministry Resource Day and a renewed Preaching Days.

In addition to your counsel and requests, I’ve also received many promises of prayers and support. You have no idea how encouraging that has been! Lifting up each other and our shared ministries in prayer is of vital importance. Knowing that many of you are praying for LTSP faculty, students, and staff at your worship services or during your own quiet time is so much appreciated.

LTSP Alumni Association President Annemarie Cook

Alumni Association President “Excited” About Her Still New Role

The Rev. Annemarie Cook, MDiv ’08, is still new in her service as president of the seminary’s Alumni Association, but she is clearly excited about the role the association is playing in the life of the seminary and the opportunities ahead. “We’ve had a good past year,” Cook explained. “We had a wonderful Spring Convocation that was a real labor of love for our alumni. We were responsible for nearly the entire event. “

Seminary Welcomes Richly Diverse New Class

Seminary Welcomes Richly Diverse New Class

They come from neighborhoods as close as the seminary’s Mt. Airy community, and from places much farther away – Minneapolis, Tampa, Nashville, and India, for example. Some are very recent college graduates. One is an associate director for the Philadelphia Orchestra. Another has worked for an advertising company.

They are Lutherans, Episcopalians, Baptists, Methodists, and Pentecostals. Studying with students from myriad backgrounds and traditions in an urban setting really appeals to them.

Ministry Resource Day 2015

“Be willing to do something you never thought you could”
Ministry Resource Day 2015

Everyone knows the culture has changed – perhaps faster in recent years than at any time in centuries. But what, exactly, has changed? And why does the Church so often feel left behind? And, perhaps most importantly, what can we do about it? At the second Ministry Resource Day, LTSP President David Lose considered both the changes and opportunities with presentations entitled “Where Did All the People Go?” and “Church 2.0.”
