United Lutheran Seminary (ULS) Presidential Search Announcement
A New Venture in Theological Education, United Lutheran Seminary (ULS), as the newest graduate and professional school in theological education with the deepest roots, seeks a president. A seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), ULS is a single school with two campuses, consolidating two historic, Pennsylvania seminaries from Gettysburg and Philadelphia. It will open officially July 1, 2017, during the 500th anniversary year of the Reformation, with its first classes in the fall.
The Board of Trustees seeks a president who will serve as the chief executive officer of ULS. The successful candidate must possess the character, professional skills and experiences, strong vocational identity, and vision to lead ULS from its inception as it prepares public leaders who are committed to developing and nurturing individual believers and communities of faith for engagement in the world. The president will lead ULS in preparing successful leaders for the church’s ongoing and increasingly challenging mission; lead a collegial and intentional community in which faculty, staff, and administrators can carry out the mission and objectives of ULS; cultivate a diverse institution of faith and learning; develop resources for it mission; and foster strong relationships between ULS and its constituencies, supporting synods, and educational and ecumenical partners.
