UTI 30th Anniversary - Expanding the Vision
EXPANDING the VISION
UTI is moving into the future, expanding its horizons under the leadership of director The Rev. Dr. Quintin L. Robertson.
Dr. Robertson, an ordained elder of the Church of God in Christ, sees UTI as an umbrella program administering degree and certificate programs and public programming.
Under degree programs, the Black Church Concentration within LTSP’s MDiv program and the Black Church Specialization in the Master of Arts in Religion program are both aimed at professional church leaders interested in Black Church issues. UTI also oversees a Black Church focus in LTSP’s DMin program.
The Certificate initiative has expanded with a Certificate in Christian Ministry to complement the Certificate in Church Leadership.
In addition to Preaching with Power, quarterly seminars, both academic and practical in nature, working with various African American religious communities in the area are being offered. “We want to cultivate a deeper understanding, appreciation of and respect for African American theological inquiry and religious history,” Dr. Robertson explained, “enriching the church and the seminary community.” Much as UTI and LTSP have been enriched by the last 30 years of carrying out the vision of Drs. Jones and Willis.
