Commencing a New Adventure

We held a grand commencement just a few weeks ago. I haven’t checked the records, but I suspect that with more than 100 graduates crossing the podium to receive their degrees and certificates, it came close to setting or breaking any recent commencement records at LTSP. It was a day of joy, of celebration, of thanksgiving, and of beginnings.

Three Days Retreat: Coming together in the midst of liturgy

For a number of years, on and off, liturgy students of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) have traveled to historic Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, Pennsylvania, to celebrate and experience the Triduum, all in one day known as the Three Days Retreat. This year brought a different aspect – with United Lutheran Seminary on the horizon, we were joined by students from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (LTSG).

Hein-Fry Book of Faith Challenge 2017 at LTSP

The Hein-Fry Book of Faith Challenge (HFBFC) was launched in 2015 to enliven the biblical engagement of the whole church by encouraging the development of new examples of faithful, innovative, and effective ways of teaching and learning Scripture. Four students shared their projects and learnings at the April 21, 2017, day-long event. A panel of practitioners, led by keynote speaker the Rev. Dr. Timothy Wengert, responded to each presentation, and the audience was then invited to question the presenters.
